Ivanovo

Ivanovo is famous for its developed industrial industry and education. There are seven higher educational institutions in the city, with different directions. Ivanovo is also known in the country as the "city of brides" — the city received this name in the post-war years, when there were many single women left in the settlement who worked for the benefit of the state. Historical monuments have been preserved in Ivanovo and there are various attractions that will be interesting for guests of Ivanovo to visit.
It is known that the history of the settlement called Ivanovo begins around the 14th century. Since that time, people began to build the first residential buildings and conduct economic activities on the banks of the river. They were engaged in various crafts, fishing, agriculture and trade. By the 15th century, a small village of the same name already existed in the area. Most of the residents of the settlement were engaged in painting and printing on canvas and sold their works to the nearest cities.
Ivanovo is a fairly young city compared to other sites in the Golden Ring. The age of the city is just over 150 years old. At the same time, on the territory of Ivanovo, you can still find remarkable buildings and objects that will be of interest to tourists to get acquainted with their history and unique architecture.
On Maria Ryabinina Street, you can see an unusual house resembling a medieval castle. This is the former estate of the Swiss Mr. G. Duringer. The European came to the city at the beginning of the 20th century and was a sales representative at a local factory. At first, Duhringer and his family lived in a rented house, but later decided to get their own apartment. He purchased a two-storey large house in the central part of Ivanovo and slightly changed its appearance according to his own wishes. So, the mansion typical for the city was rebuilt into a stately castle with decorative elements in the form of sculptures and vases made of stone. Duhringer had good means to create the atmosphere of a real medieval castle in his home. The courtyard had its own poultry house, a greenhouse and a fountain with a large sculpture. At the entrance to the house, the guests were greeted by two knights in armor, and the interior of the mansion itself also had an interior from ancient times. After the death of the owner, the mansion began to be used as residential apartments. His appearance was changed several times. During Soviet times, the estate was once again rebuilt, and most of the decoration and architecture were destroyed. The stained glass windows were blocked, and the facade of the house lost its former beauty. Today, the building belongs to an architectural monument, but it continues to be used. For this reason, the mansion can only be viewed from the outside or by renting one of the local apartments.
A pedestrian bridge has been laid across the Uvod River, which flows through the city. The ferry is suspended and has a wooden deck. This bridge has a curious name — Banny. The history of this name is quite simple: so he was nicknamed for the proximity of the city baths to the path. Unfortunately, the baths were removed, but the name of the bridge remained, which became an attractive criterion for tourists. Many guests of Ivanovo want to visit the Banny Bridge: it offers a beautiful view of the river, and in the evenings, colorful lighting turns on on the bridge.
A unique mansion of the Krechetnikov family can be found in the Ivanovo region — in the village of Bogorodskoye. This manor is notable for its beautiful architecture, made in the classical style and decorated with stucco and bas-reliefs. It is known that the house was built at the end of the XVIII century according to the project of D. Gilardi. Built on the banks of the Talka River, the house has perpendicular axes that meet at the local Assumption Church. Two wide staircases were installed on the territory, one of which led to a large—scale park area, and the second to outbuildings. After the Krechetnikovs, the estate was owned by A. Shenshin, who was the father of the famous poet A. Fet.
The house is a bird. There is another interesting building on Lenin Avenue, which is a landmark of the city. At first glance, there is nothing special about it — it seems to be an ordinary gymnasium where young residents of Ivanovo study. However, it is worth turning on your imagination and looking at the structure from a certain angle, as in its outlines you can see the resemblance to a bird. From the side, which has an observatory tower on the roof, the gymnasium building resembles a large bird with wings spread out on the sides. This building was built in 1918 and became one of the first schools in the city of Ivanovo, which appeared during the Soviet era. 10 years later, an observatory was added to the upper part of the gymnasium, the project of which was created by V. Pankov. Today it is inactive, but there are rumors that the observatory will revive its work soon.
The house is a ship. A ship house can also be found on the aforementioned main street of Ivanovo. An unusual building was erected here in the 30th year of the last century. Architect D. Friedman worked on its construction. The building quickly got an interesting name because of its resemblance to a large ship. The house combines several styles: constructivism with elements of romanticism and symbolism. The building of the Great Ivanovo Manufactory is a historical site of the city, which is currently abandoned. The red brick building stands proudly on the banks of the Uvod River and attracts the attention of the guests of Ivanovo with its majestic view. For many years, one of the first fabric factories in the city was located here. The factory was a famous canvas manufacturer not only in the city, but throughout Russia. It operated from 1751 to 2008. The factory buildings belong to the cultural heritage of the settlement, but since they have remained abandoned, the exterior and interior of the buildings are gradually being destroyed.
The city of Ivanovo, formed from the merger of two small settlements, has its own kremlin. Fragments of the ancient fortress were discovered relatively recently, so today the Kremlin is still an archaeological site located near the Bolshaya Ivanovskaya Manufactory. In the future, it is planned to restore the former appearance of the citadel of the settlement from the remnants of the fragments. It is known that scientists have already been able to recreate the fortress in the form of a computer model. The exterior of the fortress will be made similar to the original citadel, but the architects want to change the territory inside the walls somewhat. It is planned to cover it with a large dome and build a large-scale shopping center inside.
